4/11/06 HITACHI CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY, LTD SIGNS INTERNATIONAL RESELLER AGREEMENT WITH ORBCOMM
Dulles, VA, April 11, 2006 - ORBCOMM, a global satellite data communications company, today announced that Hitachi Construction Machinery Company, Ltd. (HCM) has signed an International Value Added Reseller (IVAR) agreement with ORBCOMM to support HCM’s newly launched Global e-Service Business. Using ORBCOMM's communications system, HCM customers will be able to monitor, track, and manage their fleet anywhere in the world.
“We at HCM are committed to providing valuable machine information and field service solutions through our secure Owner’s Site web portal within our Global e-Service solution. ORBCOMM provides a reliable data link with the global coverage necessary to provide service to our customers. Our Global e-Service system coupled with ORBCOMM will enable us to provide our end-user customers with several new and exciting capabilities,” said Mr. Tatesaka, General Manager of Hitachi. “In addition to providing location and tracking, the Global e-Service system will have the ability to monitor the operation of a machine remotely to ensure that preventive maintenance is performed as needed based on actual machine usage, which is expected to maximize machine utilization, reduce downtime and increase fleet efficiency.”
HCM intends to offer the Owner’s Site to Hitachi customers in Japan
and European countries first, followed shortly by deployments in other territories
where ORBCOMM Services are available. The Global e-Service system becomes
a standard feature on Hitachi –3 series of Zaxis excavator models such
as the ZX200-3, ZX240-3, ZX270-3 and ZX330-3.
