We are currently recruiting for a Lead Technical Support Specialist who will be working closely with our technical support team, and help provide technical support for customer inquiries regarding our products, services and solutions.

What you can expect:

  • Work closely with a team of technical support representatives to efficiently prioritize and resolve issues affecting products and systems used by our customer base;
  • Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement through the design, development and implementation of support processes, systems, and technology to support and enhance the technical support function;
  • Grow our long-term relationship with our customer base by providing outstanding customer support;
  • Facilitate customer-issue resolution meetings for items escalated to other groups which are typically complex in nature and require technical support from R&D, Network operations, Field Applications Engineering or Manufacturing;
  • Due to the global nature of ORBCOMM's business, the ability to work occasional flexible hours and travel to customer sites to resolve issues or gather input on requirements is required.

Must-have Skills:

  • +2 years of experience as a technical support specialist in satellite or wireless communication companies is ideal;
  • Experience providing front-line technical customer support via phone and e-mail;
  • Experience working with the .Net platform (either C# or VB), and Java applications/web services;
  • Experience and understanding of object oriented programming and dynamic script languages such as Bash, Perl, Ruby, Python and especially Lua;
  • Experience with SQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL preferred;
  • Superb analytical and logical troubleshooting skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Knowledge of electronics, circuit design and wireless systems;
  • Embedded software and hardware development or troubleshoot experience;
  • Experience with IOT solutions or Terrestrial communication systems;
  • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Windows, LINUX, and Mac OSX environments, including shell scripting;
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new technologies.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is ideal. However, Chinese, Arabic and Russian languages will also be considered;
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
