System Analyst

Location: Tokyo, Japan

A little bit about the role:

As a member of the ORBCOMM Service Assurance Group, the System Analyst (SA) is part of a team responsible for assuring high service quality standards for ORBCOMM’s customers. Toward this end, the System Analyst will participate in system-wide, 2nd level technical support activities and investigations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serving in the 2nd level on-call rotation for customer and network support.
  • Working trouble tickets within a CRM trouble ticketing environment.
  • Being able, available and responsible for in-person, phone-call and e-mail transactions with internal and external customers.
  • Providing quick resolution to system anomalies.
  • Coordinating system administrative duties for the ORBCOMM production network.
  • Generating and/or maintaining pertinent documentation.


  • Responds quickly and effectively during critical and emergency situations.
  • Assimilates data quickly and consistently extends the scope of own capability.
  • Communicates effectively: verbally and written.
  • Handles persistent high levels of stress and works well under pressure.
  • Performs complex command activities: organizational, procedural & system network related.
  • Implements appropriate routine and contingency procedures with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates an ability to pursue a detailed understanding of the customer’s application in order to apply system-wide troubleshooting experience to the situation.


  • Basic Qualifications: 2 years technical training and 3-7 years related experience. In lieu of formal education, 5-10 years of directly related experience will be evaluated.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Satellite and/or Data Communications.
  • Must be fluent in English and Japanese.
