Senior Human Resources Generalist

Location: Ottawa, Ontario Canada

A little bit about the role:

We are currently looking for a Senior Human Resources Generalist with a passion for all things HR. As part of the HR team you will provide counsel on all people issues, with a particular focus on employee engagement, employee relations and the development of programs that improve the attraction and retention of top talent. This position will support all facets of international human resources including compensation and benefit programs, recruitment, organizational development, performance management, training and development and cultural change. The chosen candidate will become a valued business partner to the business with a passion to drive positive change.

The key to the Senior Human Resource Generalists’ success will be the ability to influence others via coaching, mentoring as well as training and development. They must also be seen as both a “team player” and “change agent” with superior organization skills and the ability to communication at all levels up to and including the Senior Leadership Team. This person will be a results oriented individual with demonstrated problem-solving skills and has meticulous attention to detail combined with the ability to deal with constantly changing requirements and priorities.

What you can expect:

  • Provide HR guidance and support on employee relations issues;
  • Provide support and guidance to employees with regards to complying with company policies, procedures and services;
  • Support international employees and consultants across various geographies;
  • Liaise with the organizations benefits service providers to ensure the administration of ORBCOMM’s employee benefit plans;
  • Work closely with Payroll and Finance to ensure the effective delivery of the following services: administration of new hires, transfers, promotions/terminations as well as coordinate and administer the annual merit increase cycle and bonus calculation processes;
  • Administration of compensation programs; annual merit increases, market research, annual discretionary bonus program etc;
  • Administration of HR programs;
  • Maintain HR data in various systems including; Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Benefits & Pension Administration systems etc.;
  • Preparation and distribution of internal communications;
  • Manage the recruiting and talent acquisition processes to ensure the best candidates are recruited for open positions;
  • Perform orientations and onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience;
  • Preform other related duties as required.

Must-have Skills:

  • 5-7 years of Human Resources experience, ideally in a high-tech environment;
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to multi-task and prioritize;
  • Service-oriented and capable of communicating with employees at all levels;
  • High level of integrity, ethics and professionalism; must be able to handle all confidential information with discretion and sensitivity;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Outlook, Word and Excel;
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply Employment Standards Legislation;
  • Post-secondary education in the area of Human Resources or Business Administration;
  • Fluency in English, ability to communicate in multiple languages an asset (Spanish, French, Portuguese).
