ORBCOMM LAUNCHES ITS FIRST SELF-POWERED M2M TRACKING AND MONITORING DEVICE
Rochelle Park, NJ, May 16, 2013 - ORBCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq: ORBC), a global provider of satellite and cellular-based Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions, today announced the availability of the ORBCOMM GT 1100, a self-powered M2M asset tracking and monitoring device targeted for a variety of global markets including transportation and logistics, heavy equipment and oil and gas. ORBCOMM’s ruggedized, easy-to-install device is designed to fit seamlessly in between the indented spacing on intermodal containers. Its low, one-inch height profile and small form factor are also ideal for tracking and monitoring trailers and other types of cargo assets. The GT 1100 is sensor-compatible and self-powered with solar recharging technology for low power consumption, which works well for tracking and monitoring other remote unpowered assets such as construction and mining equipment.

OG2 PROTOTYPE HARDWARE FUNCTIONALITY VERIFIED PRIOR TO DEORBIT

The OG2 prototype was deployed into a lower orbit as the result of a pre-imposed safety check required by NASA. The safety check was designed to protect the International Space Station and its crew. Had ORBCOMM been the primary payload on this mission, as planned for the upcoming launches, we believe the OG2 prototype would have reached the desired orbit.

Fort Lee, NJ, October 8, 2012 – ORBCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq: ORBC), a global satellite data communications company focused on two-way Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, today announced that the first prototype of its second generation of satellites (OG2) was launched on the Cargo Re-Supply Services (CRS-1) mission aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle from Cape Canaveral, FL, on October 7, 2012 at 8:35 pm EST. The OG2 prototype satellite, flying as a secondary payload on this mission, was separated from the Falcon 9 launch vehicle at approximately 9:00 pm EST. However, due to an anomaly on one of the Falcon 9’s first stage engines, the rocket did not comply with a pre-planned International Space Station (ISS) safety gate to allow it to execute the second burn. For this reason, the OG2 prototype satellite was deployed into an orbit that was lower than intended. ORBCOMM AND SPACEX SET PLANS TO LAUNCH SATELLITES ON NEXT FALCON 9 LAUNCH
Falcon 9 is a two-stage launch vehicle powered by liquid oxygen and rocket grade kerosene (RP-1) capable of delivering 10,450 kg (23,050 lb) to low-Earth orbit and 4,540 kg (10,000 lb) to geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO). The nine Merlin engines on the first stage generate more than one million pounds of thrust at liftoff and allow the launch vehicle to perform as planned even with one or two of the engines out. Falcon 9 was designed from the ground up by SpaceX for the reliable and cost-efficient transport of satellites to low Earth orbit and GTO as well as for sending SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft to orbiting destinations such as the International Space Station.

ORBCOMM Inc. announced that ORBCOMM Inc. and its satellite insurers settled any and all claims relating to the Coast Guard Demonstration satellite and five quick launch satellites. The settlement is in the amount of $44,250,000, which equates to 88.5% of the maximum claim of $50,000,000 from third party insurers. ORBCOMM retains ownership of the two quick launch satellites still operating.
